Our meticulously hand-built Junk Shot Kits are designed and manufactured in the USA. We consulted several senior well control specialists to determine the essential components. These kits address the critical need for rapid response. Small leaks on producing wells can escalate quickly, making timely intervention crucial. Once operators are notified, management teams engaged, and blowout contingency plans activated, every minute counts. Having well-prepared Junk Shot material readily available ensures a proactive approach to well control.
Project Description
Junk Shots are a crucial intervention in well control, deployed when an active well blowout occurs. This technique involves injecting mechanical and malleable materials into the well to bridge the failure point, ultimately achieving a 100% seal. The material used must withstand extreme pressures while remaining flexible enough to form a secure plug. As the Junk Shot enters the well, it creates a primary bridge, followed by smaller materials filling the remaining voids. The plug remains intact due to positive pressure from the well, but stopping the flow is only the first step in regaining control. A comprehensive plan must follow, including well-killing operations, wireline or slick line work, and other interventions to fully address the failure mechanism. Blowouts vary in intensity, from slow leaks to absolute open flow (AOF), and can involve oil, gas, or formation water, underscoring the importance of immediate action.

With small leaks on producing wells having the potential to worsen rapidly, immediate access to well-prepared Junk Shot material can make all the difference. Additionally, our kits offer access to in-house well control specialists, further enhancing response effectiveness.
